Frequently Asked Questions
How much do egg shares cost?
Our eggs shares are $7.50 per dozen. This price reflects the high quality and purity of our eggs, covers our organic feed costs, delivery costs, and provides fair compensation for our boys' hard work in caring for the hens and preparing your eggs. Shares are priced on a dozen-per-week basis, so $30 for a 1-dozen-per-week share or $60 for a 2-dozen-per-week-share.
How do I pay for my egg share?
We run our egg shares like a monthly (or annual) subscription. We accept payment by check, cash, or Venmo, and ask that you pay monthly for your convenience and ours. We'll also happily accept payment for a whole season upfront.
Will I get eggs year round?
During the winter months when there are fewer hours of daylight egg laying tends to drop off by as much as 50%. During this time we'll priorize our share members to make sure they're receiving their full share as best we can, but there are just fewer eggs being laid during this time.
What if I go on vacation or don't need eggs one week?
Our hens keep laying eggs even when you're away! We're happy to hold your eggs for a week if you're out of town. For longer trips, we'd love it if you could find a friend or neighbor to enjoy your share - it's a great way to introduce others to farm-fresh eggs!
How long do unwashed eggs stay fresh?
Unwashed eggs with their natural protective coating can stay fresh on your counter for 2-3 weeks, or in the refrigerator for up to 2 months. The natural bloom keeps them fresher longer than store-bought eggs. We also recommend water glassing you eggs if you want to preserve the summer egg abundance for winter usage.
What breeds of chickens do you raise?
Our diverse flock includes ISA Browns, Amberlinks, Rustic Rocks, Midnight Marans, Prairie Bluebells, Cream Legbars, Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Ameraucanas, and Lavender Wyandottes. We have three roosters: Eggman and Doof (Ameraucanas) and Bart (Black Copper Marans). We even have one egg-laying turkey whose large speckled eggs may occasionally appear in your weekly share if you're lucky!
Can we visit the farm?
We love sharing our ranch with egg share members! Please reach out to arrange a visit - we'd be happy to show you around, introduce you to our flock, and share more about our farming practices and faith journey.
What are the exact pickup times and locations?
Specific pickup times and locations will be confirmed when you join our program. We'll provide detailed information for Fort Collins Thursday pickups, Windsor Sunday morning pickups, and on-farm visits.
How far in advance do I need to commit to a share or cancel?
We're flexible! We can discuss arrangements that work for your family, whether you want to try it for a month or commit to a full year. We believe in building lasting relationships with our customers and community. We do have a limited number of shares available, once their sold out we won't have more eggs. If you need to cancel your share please give us as much notice as you can so we can find a new home for your eggs.
